Announcements August 28, 2007

Attention students interested in taking the PSAT in October – Study Guides for the PSAT are now available in the Counseling Office.
Cost for the PSAT is $16. Cash or check to MUSD can be given to Ms. Rzemienski in the counseling office. To guarantee a spot please turn in your money no later than September 25th.

AIMS
This fall we will be having AIMS retests for juniors and seniors. If you scored meets on a test and want to retake it for exceeds, let your counselor know as soon as possible. Counselors are in the process of ordering AIMS tests and want to make sure we have enough tests for everyone.

The Tony Clark Scholarship is now available. It is open to seniors with at least a 2.0 GPA. Minorities and low-income students highly encouraged to apply. Deadline is 8/31/07. Visit the counseling office for more information.

The Dance Team will have tryouts Thursday August 30, 2007 from 3:45pm to 5:30pm in the Multi Purpose Room. Please bring warm up attire so that you are able to move freely.

School Pictures
School pictures will be taken on August 30th during you English Class. You can pick up a pictures packet in the office if you need one. Senior Pictures will be taken at a different time.

FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America): the first meeting of the year will be on Thursday, August 30 at 7:45 at the CTE building-Room # 1.
Agenda includes electing of officers, planning for the year, and fundraising ideas will be discussed. Any student interested is welcome to attend.

The M & I Bank Scholarship for student athletes is now available. This scholarship is for seniors with at least a 3.25 GPA who have participated in at least one sport. Deadline is October 27. See Ms. Rzemienski for information.

Yearbook
The Maricopa High School yearbook is now on sale! Only a limited number will be printed, so place your order today to reserve a copy. You can order your yearbook around-the-clock at jostensyearbooks.com., or through the link on the Maricopa High School website. Yearbook orders will also be taken at the high school office from August 13th to November 1, 2007.

This year’s Maricopa Ram will be the largest year. With expanded coverage in well over 100 pages, all in full-color. The yearbook will cover the highlights of the ’07 – ’08 school year with hundreds of photos and stories about academic accomplishments, club activities, school sports, special events and class histories. A yearbook is always special because it captures the life and time of the school, the class and the achievements of the students.

Due to budget constraints and a very limited supply, this may be your only opportunity to purchase a yearbook, so place your order now!

All students, there are no more schedule changes. The deadline for schedule changing was Friday the 24th.Thank-you

Juniors & Seniors
Balfour will back on campus Friday, August 31 to take orders for rings, jackets and graduation supplies. He will be here during the lunch hours.

Girls Soccer—There will be a meeting for all those interested joining the girl’s soccer team this coming season in Mr. Kellenaers room, 22E Thursday at 7:45 AM and 3:30 PM. We will be discussing the upcoming season, fundraising options, and athletic requirements.

Library
The library will be open during all lunches today and Wednesday. There are four computers available for student use.
On Thurs. Aug. 30, the library will be closed during 5th period lunches
On Friday Aug. 31, the library will be closed during 4th period lunches


Book Club
Book Club will meet Wed. at 7:45 in the library on the East Campus. Members will be choosing the next book to read and discussing officers.

Anyone interested in playing basketball, open conditioning will start this week. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 4:00. In the Multi-Purpose Wt. Room.

Student Council is sponsoring the Welcome to MHS Dance this Friday in the MPR from 9---12. The cost will be $8.00 per person. Only MHS students will be allowed to enter the dance. Only beverages will be sold at the dance, so get something to eat at the football concession stand and support the team.

Student Council would like to remind the students that the dress code is in effect for the dance Friday night. Also, students who are dancing inappropriately will be asked to leave.

Our first FCCLA meeting for new officer elections and constitution approval will be in Room 14E, Mr Sherry’s class Thur. 8/23/07 at 3:30PM . Anyone who has had a class in Culinary or FACS can join.

A representative from Northern Arizona University will be in the Counseling office this Friday (August 24th) at 10:15 am. There will be a presentation that will last approximately 30 minutes. The presentation is open to junior or seniors. Come prepared with your questions! You must have permission from your teacher (and a pass) to come to the presentation.

Baseball
There will be open weight training for baseball, Saturday, August 25th at 8:00 am to 10:00 am in the Multi-Purpose building weight room.

The new Art Club is going to have a meeting on Tuesday 21st at 3:30 in room 3H. It will be a brief meeting lasting no longer than 30 minutes and we will be deciding on officers.

The Student Ambassadors club was formed last year to help foster a warm and inviting atmosphere on the high school campus. The main goal of this club is to help new students feel welcome. We will have our first meeting this Wednesday at 7:45 am in the counseling office. ALL students are welcome to attend. Visit your counselor for more information.
