Order your yearbook now! They cost $60.00. See Mr. Allman or any yearbook staff to purchase one.

Student Council
If you are interested in running for a class office or student council office please pick up a form in the office. Elections will be on May 8th. All approval forms need to be turned in by May 1st. There are still a lot of opening for officers.

Maricopa Women In Business Scholarship is now available. You must be a female senior, have a 3.0 gpa and a minimum ACT or SAT score to apply. See Ms. Rzemienski.

Maricopa Chamber of Commerce Scholarship is now available. You must be a senior with a 3.0 gpa and a minimum ACT or SAT score to apply. See Ms. Rzemienski.

Drama Club
Drama Club will be holding a coin drive the week of April 22, for a battered women’s shelter. The class with the most money/points will win a “Special Surprise”. Coin Drive ends the 27th of April.

The Amerind Club will be offering 2 - $600.00 scholarships to any Native American senior who plans to continue their education after high school. Applications can be picked up from Mrs. Valisto in the counseling office. The deadline to submit an application will be May 11, 2007.

Come out and support your MHS Dance Team this Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Multipurpose room for their Dance Show. Tickets are only $5.00 and you can buy them from any dance member or Mrs. Kraft in room 10 E.

MHS Dance Team Tryouts will be held on May 2, 3, and 4th. You MUST attend the informational meeting to try out. It will be on April 30th at 3:45pm. in Mrs. Kraft's Room #10E. You must also have a current physical on file by May 2nd or you will not be allowed to try out.

Any senior that is interested in singing the National Anthem at graduation please see Ms. Whitchurch.

Attention Athletes
Free Physicals will be done on May 5th. Transportation will be provided. Sign-up in the front office with Mrs. Taylor.

Prom Tickets
We only have 1 more day till PROM! Get your Prom tickets today at lunch or in Room 2W. All pre-purchased tickets will be delivered to you before 3:25 pm.
Remember Wear your Seatbelts & Drive Safely! See you Saturday night!
You will need a school ID to get into the prom. Today Friday, April 20th ID will be taken from 1:30 – 3:30.

WANT TO REPRESENT!! Choose from red or white Copa silicone wristbands so you too can represent your school. Wristbands can be picked up from
Mr. Monteath in room 7w or see one of the freshman class officers. Cost is
only $2.

Amy Cole is selling baseball t-shirts for $10. Please see her in the nurse’s office.

The MHS Dance Team is looking for five to seven talent acts for fillers in their Dance Show, April 28th. If you can sing, dance, play an instrument and would like to perform at their show please see Mrs. Kraft in room 10E either Thurs, or Friday morning, or Friday after school.
Also tickets to the dance show will go on sale this Thursday. The cost is $5.00 and you can get them from any dance team member or Mrs. Kraft in room 10E.

Hey students! The Maricopa Elementary School Library is in need of student volunteers to help with their forthcoming book fair. If you are interested in helping and earning community service hours, please see Ms. Hawkins in the high school library as soon as possible. The fair starts next week and they need help Tuesday night, April 24.

Prom Tickets
Prom tickets are on sale. All Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors can attend. Freshmen by invitation only. Ticket price is $40.00.
Remember you will need a school ID to get into the prom.


Prom King & Queen
Voting will be held on Tuesday, April 17th before school, during lunch, and after school. Only seniors can vote.

AIMS Math Make-up Tuesday, April 17th at 9am – Library. If students have passing scores from previous state or school, they should let Ms Rzemienski know asap!

Stop by the office and pick up an entry form. Sponsored by Ramsey’s Grill. Draw a picture illustrating Keep Maricopa Clean and turn into the office or directly to Ramsey. You will have a chance to win a $50 gift card to Ramseys.

Cheerleaders
All 06/07 cheerleaders there is a short meeting and uniform drop-off next Thursday, the 19th at 3:30 in Room 4E. Uniforms must be cleaned.

Attention all singers! If you are interested in sing in choir next year, please come and audition this week. Auditions will be held Monday and Wednesday from 3:45 to 5:00. Sign up for a five minute audition time slot on the audition sheet located on the door of the band/choir room. If you would like to be in beginning choir, no audition is necessary.

Krystin Diehl Memorial Scholarship application is available to seniors with at least a 2.5 GPA. You must have attended MHS for at least 2 years and participated in at least 2 sports or activities to apply. Please see Ms. Rzemienski for details.

Matt Huffman Scholarship is available to seniors with at least a 2.5 GPA who have participated in at least one varsity sport this school year. See Ms. Rzemienski for details.

Students: Please donate any pictures you have of your high school experience to Student Council sponsor Mr. Toohey in room 5W to be used in a collage representing our school at the Showcase of Excellence Night. If you need them returned, please write your name on the back of each. A special Thanks goes out to Mr. Rodriguez who has already contributed.

Graduation program cover contest
Wouldn’t it be great to have your design on the Graduation Program of 2007?
Put your talent to work and design the cover. The theme is Graduation Class of 2007. The design is to be no larger than 9x12 and no smaller than 4 1/2 x 6. Submit sketch in black and white. Submissions are to be sent to the art room, 3w no later than April 13th. The contest is limited to graduating seniors of 2007.

All Students
Students need a pass to be out of class. If you are out of class without a pass you will be assigned to trash detail. That includes office aides and teacher aides.

Congratulations Wesley Gonzalez! You are the lucky winner of the jelly bean contest sponsored by the library! You guessed 1,700 and there were 1,668 in the jar! Wesley received his prize last Friday and surely shared it with all his friends! Way to go Wesley!

Thank you MHS for supporting the book fair. As a result of your contributions, the library was able to purchase $962 of materials to add to the collection! A special thank you also goes to the student and adult volunteers. Over 30 student volunteers helped make this event a success! Thank you!

Congratulations Paige Reed! You are the lucky winner of the book fair beach prize for volunteers. Stop by the library to claim your prize! Way to go Paige!

The track team traveled to Eloy, AZ and competed against Santa Cruz, Ajo, and Empire. Both teams did very well, the girls finished 2nd to Empire by only 3 points, Brittany Parks won the 100 meters, 200 meters, and the long jump, Cassie Morales won the 800 meters, Khrystal Neal won the high jump, the girls won the 4x100 relay with Caroline Fayen, Shamira Square, Karla torres and Brittany Parks, and the 4x800 relay with Cassie Morales, Danielle Munoz, Karla torres and Alyssa Joaquin. We also had many other athletes that placed in the top five.
On the boy’s side Jordan Best won the 200, followed closely by Steven Wess, Steven Wess also won the 400 and the high jump. Roman Wilson won the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdle races, and the boy’s also won the 4x100 relay with Jordan Best, Carlos Leon, Steven Wess and Roman Wilson. We also had many boys placing in the top five.

Keep Maricopa Clean

The Scholastic Book Fair
The party has begun! Stop by the library and check out the book fair! Inquire about our “jelly bean” contest and how you could win a prize for entering! The fair is open 8am-4pm Mon, Weds and Thurs, and Tuesday 8am-7pm. It is also open during both lunch hours! It’s time to party down! Hope to see you there!

Girls Basketball
There will be open gym for any girls interested in basketball on Wednesdays from 6:30-8 PM in the gym. See Coach Miller in 5E for more information.

Benefit Car Wash
There will be a benefit car wash at Checker Auto Parts April 7th starting at 9:00AM for Nick McCluen who has been diagnosed with Leukemia. Nick is the brother of Crystal McCluen and a cousin to Kolina Lamb. They are also asking for volunteers to help work. Contact your Student Council if you are available to help. This is a good Community Service opportunity for our Service oriented organizations.

Seniors
Any Senior that would like to be involved in planning this years Baccalaureate, see Mrs. Early in room 1E.

The Track teams did very well at the Coolidge Invitational yesterday. The girls scored 62 points; the team was led by Brittany Parks first place wins in the 100 meters, 200 meters and long jump. The girls also placed 2nd in the 4x200 and 4x800 relays, fourth in the 4x100 and 4x400 relay. Khrystal Neal placed 4th in the high jump and several others placed for the team.
The boys scored 22 points, finishing 2nd in the 4x200 relay, fifth in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Steven Wess placed 5th in the jump and Roman Wilson placed 5th in the triple jump.

Anyone interested in playing basketball there will be open gym for the boys tonight from 4-6. If you played boys basketball this winter and are not planning on attending open gym tonight see Coach Kevin and let him know how many people in you family are going to attend the Awards banquet on April 12th.
