Yearbooks
Order your yearbook now! They cost $60.00. See Mr. Allman or any yearbook staff to purchase one.

Dress Code
Make sure you are following the dress code. Absolutely no take tops whats so ever. No Short Shorts. No Short Skirts. No baggy or sagging pants. You will be written up and parents will have to bring you clothes.

Need to catch up on English or Math!
Just want to get ahead!

Talk to Mr. Konrad--room 6E or your counselors and we can get you started
There are scholarships available for you.

Library
Please return library materials by May 18. In addition, the following Seniors will not walk at graduation until their library account is clear: Cheyenne Calhoun, Charlee Honeycutt, Maria Ortega, and Susan Sanchez. Please see Ms. Hawkins in the library as soon as possible. Thank you!

Student Council
If you are a newly elected class or student body officer and are interested in attending the Arizona Association of Student Councils Summer Camp this summer in Prescott, see Mr. Toohey for details and registration forms.

Scholarships

Girls Basketball
All girls interested in playing basketball next year need to stop by Coach Miller’s room (5E) before the end of the school year.

Reminder to all NHS members – old and new. There is a meeting tomorrow 5/15 in Crosbie’s room, 2E at 3:30 to discuss the ceremony for induction into NHS. Reminder number 2 – the ceremony for the induction is on Thursday, May 17th.

Track
Maricopa participated in the state track meet at Mesa Community College on Friday and Saturday. Freshman Brittany Parks led the girl’s team with a 4th place in the long jump, 3rd place in the 400 meters, and 1st in the 100 meters and 200 meters. This led Maricopa to a 5th place team score. Others participating in the state meet were; Khrystal Neal who tied for 9th in the high jump, Karla Torres and Danielle Munoz in the 800 meter run, Shamira Square in the shot put, the 4x400 relay team, and the 4x800 relay team.

The boy’s team participated at the state track meet on Friday and Saturday. Roman Wilson placed 2nd in the 110 meter high hurdles, the 4x100 relay team made it to the finals, Ronnie Reed ran in the 100 meters, Steven Wess ran in the 400 meters and jumped in the high jump. The boy’s 4x400 and 4x800 also ran at the state meet. We had many runners who ran their fastest times of the year. We have a young team and are looking foreword to next year.

Krystin Diehl Scholarship Completed Krystin Diehl Scholarships must be turned into Ms. Rzemienski by this Friday, May 4th

Maricopa Women In Business Scholarship is now available. You must be a female senior, have a 3.0 gpa and a minimum ACT or SAT score to apply. See Ms. Rzemienski.

Maricopa Chamber of Commerce Scholarship is now available. You must be a senior with a 3.0 gpa and a minimum ACT or SAT score to apply. See Ms. Rzemienski.

The Amerind Club will be offering 2 - $600.00 scholarships to any Native American senior who plans to continue their education after high school. Applications can be picked up from Mrs. Valisto in the counseling office. The deadline to submit an application will be May 11, 2007.

MHS Dance Team Tryouts will be held on May 2, 3, and 4th.

Any senior that is interested in singing the National Anthem at graduation please see Ms. Whitchurch.

Attention Athletes
Free Physicals will be done on May 5th. Transportation will be provided. Sign-up in the front office with Mrs. Taylor.

Spring Football
All students interested in playing football will need to be on the football field Monday, May 7th at 3:45.

Any student interested in attending the Pathways Program through the University of Phoenix. See the counselors for details. You could win a Laptop computer or $100.00 gift cards to Best Buy. Students and parents are encouraged to attend a meeting on May 1st. Dinner is provided.

Band Concert
The final Band Concert of the year will be this Thursday at 7:00pm in the MPR. Please come and support the band. It is FREE!

Attendance Appeals
If you have 10 or more absences in any class this semester, you will lose credit for those classes. You MUST fill out an appeal form to be considered fro re-instatement of credit for those classes. The form is available in the attendance office. Don’t procrastinate! It is your responsibility to take care of this.

Congratulations to the track athletes that qualified for the state track meet next week. The boy’s team qualified in 8 individual events and 3 relays, qualifiers were: Ronnie Reed, Steven Wess, Vince Davis, Roman Wilson, Jordan Best, Carlos Leon, Justin Ballantin, David Johnson, Chris Collett, and Dowie Tran. The girl’s team qualified in 7 individual events and 2 relays, qualifiers were Brittany Parks, Caroline Fayan, Karla Torres, Danielle Munoz, Caitlin Snow, Sheridan Cowdrey, Khrystal Neal, Shamira Square, and Mary Rafo.

If you are interested in running for a class office or student council office please pick up a form in the office. Elections will be on May 8th. All approval forms need to be turned in by May 1st. There are still a lot of opening for officers.
